Imphal, October 03 2021:
Around 500 political workers of different intending candidates from Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency have pledged their support to ex-MLA Soibam Subhaschandra during a felicitation function held at Ningombam community hall on Sunday.
Presenting stoles to the new supporters, Subhashchandra said that he did his best to bring development in the constituency after he was elected by the people to the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
However, he resigned from being an elected member of the state assembly as he encountered several roadblocks in serving the public effectively.
After his resignation, he almost gave up the idea of fighting the election again but people of his constituency are encouraging him with new hopes and courage and he is now ready to fight the election once again.
Many elders of the constituency told him that what he did in three and half years exceeded what the previous MLA did in 10 years, and they encouraged him to light the election, Subhashchandra said.
Earlier, when he was a ZP member, he took up various developmental works.
Though there is no fund provision for building community halls under ZP, he constructed two community halls with proper fund management as he believes in breaking the barrier in order to take up development and welfare projects for the public.
When he was an MLA, he also took up several initiatives including improvement of power situation, water supply, road condition and construction of community halls as well as healthcare infrastructure, he added.
Subhaschandra also claimed that the Biren government might not have initiated the School Fagathansi Mission if he was not there.
Malom Megha High School and Mekola Higher Secondary School were in very bad situation.
But with his intervention, both the schools have seen major improvement.
Following addition of pre-school, nursery and kinder garten classes and introduction of van service, Malom Megha High School, which used to have only about 20 students, has now over 800 students.
This initiative in spired the officials of education department and chief minister N Biren to launch School Fagathansi Mission, he contended.
