CrPC 144 clamped in Senapati

Imphal, February 03 2022: Senapati district magistrate/DC Mahesh Chaudhari has ordered imposition of CrPC 144 in the district for two months with effect from Thursday.

The magistrate's order prohibited assembly of five or more people which is likely to turn unlawful and carrying of sticks, stones, firearms without a valid license, weapons or objects of any description which can be used as offensive weapon to prevent any unwanted activities and social disturbances in the district.

As per the order, there is need of taking immediate preventive measure to ensure free and fair conduct and prevent any breach of peace in the 12 Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections scheduled on March 3.The order also advised all concerned desirous of taking out rallies or processions for social-political, customary, religious objectives or for entertainment, involving assembly of five or more persons within the scheduled area to apply to the district magistrate for permission.
