Imphal, November 01 2024:
'One nation, one election, one religion and one language' policy being propagated by the present BJP government is against the country's unity in diversify' concept and is a step towards dividing it, stated CPI-M state secretary Ksh Shanta.
Addressing party members during the 7th CPI-M Patsoi local conference on Friday, Shanta said the BJP government at the Centre continues to propagate anti-people policies.
"One such policy is 'One nation, one election, one religion and one language' which people need to stop," he stated.
In Manipur too, local body elections have not been held for a long time since the coming of the BJP government and hence people need to pressurise the government collectively for revival of democratic institutions, Ksh Shanta observed.
Former CPI-M secretary Lamabam Ibotombi, better known as Mamo Tombi, was also remembered at the conference by observing the late leader's 104th birth anniversary.
Manipur Loumi Lup secretary Sarat Salam, All Manipur Democratic Women's Association secretary Ayekpam Ashabala Devi and CPI-M Manipur state committee members Saikhom Jugol and Dr RK Sanajaoba also addressed the conference.
Later, a 7-member CPI-M Patsoi Local Committee was also appointed with Ningthoujam Nabakumar as secretary.
