Birth anniversary of Oja Naorem Sanajaoba observed

Ojha Sanajaoba Memorial Trust (OSMT) and National Research Centre (NRC) jointly observed the 76th birth anniversary of Naorem Sanajaoba at NRC library hall, Canchipur on Thursday.
The birth anniversary observance was attended by OSMT president and DM University vice chancellor Prof Nongmaithem Rajmuhon, Manipur University of Culture vice chancellor Prof P Gunindro, Manipur University Department of Political Science Prof (Retd) K Ibo and National Research Centre president Dr Naorem Jibit Meitei as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Naorem Jibit recounted that Oja Sanajaoba took up several activities for the welfare of the people.
He (Sanajaoba) worked to bring unity and equality among the hills and valley people of the state.
The birth anniversary is being observed every year so as to make the present generation aware of the contributions made by Oja Sanajaoba and inspire them to follow in his footsteps, he added.
Floral tributes were paid to the photo of Oja Naorem Sanajaoba as mark of respect during the observance.
Meanwhile, emphasising on the role of media in a society, RK Megh-en, who is former chairman of an armed outfit, said that upholding the ethics of media can bring a strong media.
Speaking at the 85th NK Sanajaoba birth anniversary observance organised by NK Sanajaoba Memorial Trust at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound here on Thursday, Meghen expressed that it would not be wrong to call NK Sanajaoba as the first investigative journalist not only of Manipur but also of the entire 'Western Southeast Asia' (northeast region) .
He published several articles in Lamyanba magazine through investigative journalism under his pen-name Thengra' while taking the name of Maichou Konok Thengra.
The present state of media is in a sorry state.
Weakening media and strong government is a matter of concern.
Media need to uphold its ethics in order to bring about a strong media in the state, he maintained.
