Imphal, October 30 2024: Members of All Manipur Contractors' Association Forum staged sit-in protest in front of the Public Works Department (PWD) office, Khoyathong on Wednesday, demanding clearance of all pending bills for completed work projects before the Ningol Chakkouba festival.

Speaking on the sidelines, Forum convenor Thangjam Somorendro informed that the workers engaged by the contractors are also demanding payment of wages before the festival.

He continued that the bills of contractors and work agencies having connections or familiar with MLAs/ministers have been cleared without any issue, but no process has been initiated for the unconnected contractors, who have already submitted requisite documents over two months ago.

Thus, he appealed to the chief minister to look into the matter and clear the pending bills taking into account plight of the contractors and their workers.
