Thoubal, August 30 2021:
The Community Horne Isolation Centre (CHIC) opened at Waikhom Mani Girls' College will cease operation, said Khangabok AC MLA O Surajkumar on Monday.
Speaking in this regard, the MLA informed that the Centre will be shut down as there has been steady decline in the number of Covid-19 cases and in view of the arrangement made to accommodate newly infected patients to the Community Quarantine Centre opened in Wangjing Kodompokpi.
Recounting that the CHIC was opened on May 12 last under the supervision of ex-CM O Ibobi, Surajkumar said that the centre was operated by the staff of Thoubal DC.
In all, 943 positive cases underwent isolation, while 117 serious cases were referred to another location for appropriate treatment.
Although the centre will no longer remain in operation, the ambulance services would continue.
The MLA then appreciated the volunteers, doctors, nurses, Zilla Parishad, pradhan, councillors, Ward members and volunteers of Thoubal Kendra Covid-19 Aid for their contribution and support.
