Imphal calm after exit of N Biren: Keirao MLA

Kakching, March 26 2025: Keirao MLA Lourembam Rameshwar Meitei has opined that peace and calmness has returned to Imphal after the resignation of N Biren as the chief minister.

Speaking at a grand Iftar party organised by Manipur Meitei Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMWO) at Mayang Imphal Bengoon on Wednesday, MLA Rameshwar conceded that some people might be offended with his observation that there is semblance of normalcy in the valley districts.

He also noted that since N Biren's resignation, cases of persons hounded and arrested for chiding the government on social media platforms have ceased.

While expressing that restoration of peace in the whole of Manipur will take time and cannot be imposed, Rameshwar appealed to the Naga and Meitei Pangal communities to contribute their mite in resolving the ongoing crisis so as to enable the masses live life normally.

In his address, Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan stated that people rteed a leader who treats every community equally and unite them.

Calling for the new government, if any, to be strong and committed to bringing communal harmony in the state, he also stressed the importance for all to strive for restoring peace and harmony.

The programme was also attended by Mayang Imphal MLA Kongkham Robindro, MMWO president Md Ali Chesabam, Forum For Restoration of Peace convener Ashang Kasar and other leaders from both hill and valley regions.
