Imphal, July 25 2022:
Yelhoumee Kanba Apunba Lup (YKAL) has appealed to the Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Rajya Sabha MP Leisemba Sanajaoba to help in preserving and safeguarding the sanctity of the sacred places which are of great importance to the history and culture of the State.
YKAL in a press release while expressing serious concern over the threat imposed by the alleged continued efforts of outsiders trying to defile the originality and the structure of these sacred and ancient places in the State, urged the Government to come up with a long term plan to tackle such disturbances.
YKAL recounted the numerous hindrances at different points of time which have tried to disrupt the peaceful co-existence among different communities especially the indigenous communities in the State due to the evil motives of the so called outsiders.
While referring to the issue of Thangjing Hill, Mount Koubru and alike where the natives were barred from entering and offering prayers to the revered places by the members of other communities, YKAL maintained that such incidences have become a recurring phenomenon which is really unfortunate since it endangers the legacy and roots of the indigenous communities.
With regards to the recent issue of the proposed plan of PDA Manipur to construct quarters at Langol Game Village Park A, YKAL stated that such a step has yet again created a state of unrest among the indigenous people and appealed to the relevant authorities to execute the construction work at some other suitable place.
Stating that it is high time to tackle these issues which are endangering the identity and history of the indigenous people, YKAL urged the leaders and those who are in power to look into the matter at the earliest and take up long term measures to solve the issue and preserve the sanctity of the important sacred and ancient places of the State in the interest of all.
