Imphal, June 24 2021:
Asking Manipur government to devise a new plan to tackle the possible third wave of COVID-19 pandemic in the state, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has said that the government should enhance treatment facilities at hospitals and increase the number of medical oxygen plants.
In view of the suffering faced by people of the state during the first wave and the ongoing second wave, the government and its medical department should device a new plan before the virus strikes again, MSF publicity secretary M Biju said in a statement.
According to the MSF statement, government must enhance treatment facilities at hospitals and increase the number of oxygen plants before arrival of the third wave.
It also called for stepping up vaccination drive and increasing number of beds at both government and private hospitals.
People of the state suffered much during both the first and second waves of the pandemic due to lack of preparedness and healthcare facilities and this was the reason behind high rate of fatality, the MSF statement said and stressed the need for enhancing mass testing and vaccination in view of present nature of spread of the virus.
