Relay hunger strike completes 37th day

Imphal, December 22 2024: The relay hunger strike organised by the Uripok Apunba Lup and Uripok Apunba Nupi Lup at Uripok Canteen Crossing, demanding the arrest and punishment of those responsible for the abduction and killing of three women and three children in Jiribam, completed 37th day on Sunday.

Despite the protest lasting over a month, the state government has yet to apprehend those involved in this heinous crime, Uripok Apunba Lup said in a statement.

The Lup expressed concern that despite strong national laws designed to protect women and children and prevent crimes against them, these protections appear to have failed to reach the state of Manipur.

IDPs from Lamboi Khongnangkhong relief camp participated in the morning, while volunteers from Samaj Tengbang Lup, Achom Leikai continued their stir till night.
