Security beefed up; search Ops continue

Imphal, January 22 2022:
In view of the upcoming Republic Day celebration and state assembly election, police continued to carry out search operations in various parts of the state on Saturday.
According to police reports, a combined team of Imphal West district commando and Imphal Police carried out search operation from 7:45 am to 9:10 am in Uripok Bachaspati Leikai area during which 95 houses were searched and 150 people including some who are out on bail were verified.
The team, during the operation, detained two bailed out people for further verification and they were handed over to Imphal police station.
Later, they were released after proper identification.
Similarly, a team led by Imphal West district commando OC inspector P Achouba conducted search operation in Kasturi, Ngarigali, Dharmsala and Nagamapal area from 3:45 pm to 4:25 pm.
During the operation, 150 people were verified out of which 15 people were handed over to City police station for further verification.
Later, they were released after their identities were confirmed.
Meanwhile, a team led by additional SP (Ops) Imphal East district Kh Herojit conducted search operation in Sanjenthong-Namthalpung and Checkon area from 6 am to 8 am during which it searched 90 houses and verified people including people out on bail.
But there is no report of any arrest made.
On the other hand, a Bishnupur Police team led by additional SP (Ops) Bishnupur district Roni Mayengbam carried out house to house search operation in Chothe village from 3:15 pm to 4:30 pm and verified 45 people.
Similarly, a team of Thoubal District Commando Unit and women police conducted search operation in Lamding Laishram Leikai area from 5:30 am to 7 am and searched 50 houses and verified 203 people.
There is no report of any arrest made during the operation.
