Camp residents trained on Pung, Pena, dances

People displaced by the ongoing violence and currently taking shelter at the Lamboi Khongnangkhong relief camp have started learning Pung, Pena and song and dances from Sunday onwards after they approached Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board for the same.
Formal commencement of the training programme on traditional Manipuri performing arts was held along with a simple function at the relief camp in the presence of Temple Board's representatives.
Pung, Pena and song and dance instructors of the Board including Chingkham Maloti of Ishei Loishang and Laishram Senapati of Pung Loishang will impart basic lessons and hold lecture sessions every Sunday to around 50 residents of the camp.
The board also present -ed 14 sitting mats (Phak) and financial assistance to the relief camp.
The board had earlier imparted lessons on Pung, Pena and song and dances to residents of the relief camp set up at Wangkhei high school with some already serving at the Lainingthou Sanamahi temple on completion of the training.
