State Handloom Expo concludes

Imphal, August 20 2022: The State Handloom Expo organised by Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation Limited at Urban Haat, Nilakuthi culminated on Saturday.

The closing function was attended by Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation Limited chairperson MLA Kh Ibomcha as chief guest, managing director E Jiten as president and Weavers' Service Centre, Ministry of Textiles assistant director M Ibohal as guest of honour.

In his speech, Kh Ibohal highlighted the various welfare schemes/projects undertaken by the state government for weavers including supply of subsidised threads.

He then said that initiatives will continue on in the future, while presenting Rs 1000 as monetary award to the 60 participating stalls for promoting their respective handloom products successfully.

Speaking on the occasion, E Jiten stressed the need for selling the handloom products not only in the state but also outside of it, as this will help increase the income of weavers of the state.

Thus, there is a need for the weavers to participate in marketing events organised outside the state including mela and national expos, so as to help discern the products preferred by customers outside the state, he stated.
