Governor Ganesan visits AR units

Governor La Ganesan visited Assam Rifles locations at Somsai and Chassad on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the Governor, during his interaction with troops, appreciated the relentless efforts of Assam Rifles in maintaining peace and tranquillity in the state.
He also planted a tree sapling so as to spread awareness about the growing ecological concerns and also appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles in promoting Go Green Initiative of the government.
Meanwhile, Noney Battalion Assam Rifles of 22 Sector/Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) on Wednesday organised a tree plantation drive at Tamlok village in Noney district.
The tree plantation drive was conducted with an aim to control global warming, make environment pollution free and spread awareness on importance of clean environment.
As part of initiative, saplings were planted by the villagers and troops of Company Operating Base, Awangkhul.
A total of 40 saplings of various varieties were planted.
During the event, villagers were also exhorted to conserve the nature under the theme of 'Go Green' initiative and promote awareness about forest conservation as gesture of social responsibility, The plantation drive in the area would supplement greenery and negate the ill effect of deforestation.
