Meet held to discuss women vendors' issues

Imphal, January 18 2022:
Apunba Keithel Sinnaibi Lup (AKSIL), which is the apex women vendors' organisation, hosted a familiarisation meet with leaders and functionaries of civil society and women's organisations of the state at Manipur Press Club here on Tuesday.
As one of the presidium members, AKSIL president Khamnam Sobhabati said the meet was organised to solicit support of CSOs and women leaders of the state in resolving problems and issues faced by women vendors from time to time.
AKSIL had inspected almost all the Keithel (markets) of the state and all except Lilong Keithel were found to be all women markets.
AKSIL's objective is to ensure that women continue to be stakehojder of all the Keithel in the state as usual, she informed the gathering comprising women vendors from different Keithel of the state.
Kanglamei president Y Leirik Leima, who was also one of the presidium members, said that women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel have been shouldering their responsibility and taking part in various movements relating to state issues.
AKSIL was formed by women vendors of different Keithel and women continue to shoulder their responsibility to prevent problems in the society, she said, adding that women vendors could discuss collectively when they face any problem.
The meet was also attended by KIL president RK Sanahanbi; SEACO president N Gobardhon, international awardee H Ibotombi Khuman, AKSlL advisor Akham Langol, Pandam president Yumnamcha Dilip, IPAK presidentKsh Somarendro, IPSA president T Birjit, Kangleipak Calendar Board president Ahambhijit Sairom, ACOAM Lup president S Sanjit, CLK president Ch Pakpi Chanu and KSA president Sukham Bidyananda as presidium members.
