Imphal, June 16 2021:
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has announced that it would be looking into the rising prices of agricultural products/items.
In a statement released by its publicity secretary Melem Biju, MSF said that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the people, especially the farming community.
Manipur, which once used to be a self-sustainable land with surplus yield, is now heavily dependent on others.
This has been further worsened by the pandemic as the people now wait for food to be brought in from outside.
But this does not mean that we have to feel defeated.
Instead, we must put our minds and strength together to work and ensure self-dependency of Manipur well into the future.
As such, on April 26 this year, MSF submitted a memorandum to the CM and the CAF&PD minister, in which one of the proposals urged for the government to take immediate steps to lower the rising prices of agricultural products to ensure surplus yield.
In accordance to this, MSF would be looking into the matter so that the government would be able to provide key agricultural products such as Urea, Diammonium Phosphate (DAP), Muriate of Potash (MOP), Single Super Phosphate (SSP), Triple Super Phosphate (TSP), etc, the statement conveyed.
