Tamenglong AR Bn celebrates Army Day

In commemoration of the Indian Army Day, 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector AR/ IGAR (East) organised a grand function at district headquarters, Tamenglong.
A befitting wreath laying ceremony was organised to salute the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the country and its citizens, said a release issued by PRO (DW).
Veterans and veer naris from Tamenglong joined the commandant and all ranks in the celebrations and paid tribute to the valiant heroes of Indian Army.
Patriotic songs and band display filled the environment with patriotic fervour.
The stellar performance of the troops of the Battalion during the cultural programme established a deep cultural connect among the citizens who gathered for the event which epitomised the prevalent concept of "Unity in Diversity" and "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat".
44 Assam Rifles commandant also extended his warm greetings and best wishes to all people from the Zeliangrong region on the auspicious and joyous occasion of Gaan-Ngai festival.
A stall on local crafts of the area, depicting the rich heritage of the area was also on display for the veterans.
He called upon all citizens for constructive contribution towards nation building.
Maj G Kamei (Retd), senior most veteran from the town along with ESM secretary cut the cake and reciprocated the best wishes on behalf of veterans.
An information stall with respect to various entries to join Indian Army was put on display for the visitors.
Certainly these job opportunities amid Covid restrictions would bring a ray of hope on grim faces in these far flung areas of Manipur.
An interactive session with veterans was also organised to address their grievances, the release elaborated.
