RIMS' progress highlighted at foundation day

Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal celebrated its 51st foundation day on Wednesday at RIMS Jubilee Hall, Lamphelpat.
Former additional director general of health services professor Indira Chakravarty (Padmashri) and RIMS director professor A Santa attended the event as chief guest and president respectively while RIMS MS professor N Sanjeeb, former RIMS directors professor L Fimate and professor S Rita, RIMS Dean of Academics professor Brojen, professor Ch Manglem, professor N Shanti and professor Y Indivar were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, professor Indira Chakravarty acknowledged the positive changes that RIMS is witnessing in the last five years under director A Santa.
She also expressed happiness over the enhanced budget of RIMS, which has been increased from Rs 35 crore some years back to Rs 600 crore at present while giving the credit to the efforts of professor Santa.
In his address, Professor A Santa stressed the need for developing good relation between doctors and patients.
While stating that RIMS is gaining popularity similar to reputed institutions like AIIMS and PGIMER, he said the institute now has three state of the art operation theatres, world class ICU wards, three private wards and dedicated Covid wards.
All the classrooms of the institute have been fitted with ACs.
Earlier, there were only two respiratory medicine doctors but now it has six respiratory medicine doctors and senior residents have been allowed to practice for one year in the institute.
The director confided about plans to complete 10 projects within a short period before his term is over and urged the staffers and public to extend full support and cooperation to his successor.
Awards to meritorious students of RIMS were also distributed on the occasion.
