Manipur Gorkha Welfare Union (MGWU) has extended its support and cooperation to make chief minister N Biren's 'War on Drugs' campaign successful and eradicate illegal poppy plantations from all Gorkha villages.
In a release, MGWU stated that a meeting of office bearers of the Union was held on May 8 to discuss about the eradication of poppy cultivation.
The meeting resolved to fully support the CM's initiative of 'War on Drugs' and to cooperate with the state machineries in whatever actions they take to curb poppy cultivation.
While reminding that poppy plantation is illegal and is a threat to the future of any society, the Union also urged all Gorkha village chairmen to discourage any kind of illegal poppy cultivation and ban such illegal activities in their respective areas.
