NPP workers asked to clarify attack

Imphal, February 12 2022: Joint Youth Development Committee (JYDC) of Mayang Imphal Meetei-Pangal has demanded workers of NPP candidate in Mayang Imphal A/C Urikhinbam Ramesh to clarify over attacking its member Makakmayum Amir and damaging his vehicle within 24 hours.

Speaking to media persons at Mayang Imphal Bengoon Mayai Leikai, JYDC member Chesabam Achouba recounted that Amir along with three other people went to his sister's residence at Santhel on Friday.

While returning around 9pm, workers of Urikhinbam Ramesh halted them near Ramesh's residence located at Sekmaijin.

The workers using logs damaged the car they were travelling in and even threatened to kill them, Achouba alleged, while condemning the brutal attack.

Demanding clarification for such acts of brutality within 24 hours, Achouba cautioned that they will launch intense forms of protest in Mayang-Imphal where Meetei-Pangals reside if they fail to clarify.

Ramesh and his workers should be held responsible for any consequences, he added.

Meanwhile, locals of Mayang Imphal polling station 23/35 Phoubakchao staged a sit-in protest condemning the incident.
