Khunai Kanba Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (KHUKAMPAL) on Tuesday submitted memorandum to the Thoubal deputy commissioner and the SP to denouncing intensification of search operations intended to arrest village volunteers (VVs) .
The memorandum pointed out that the village volunteers have been protecting Manipur's integrity and thwarting attempts by Kuki narco-terrorists to divide the state.
Speaking to media persons after submitting the memorandum, KHUKAMPAL Secretary Ak Chitreswori pointed out that youth of the state volunteered to be village volunteers out of necessity following the aggression by Kuki narco-terrorists.
They took up arms to protect the people from attacks of armed Kukis as the state government failed to safeguard lives and properties of its denizens, she asserted.
Demanding that village volunteers should not be arrested till amicable solution to the ongoing conflict, Chitreswori assured the village volunteers will surrender firearms to the government after peace is restored in the state.
