Thawai Mirel slams central Govt's approach

Imphal, September 08 2024: Thawai Mirel co-convenor P Sanahanbi slammed the government of India's approach to the prevailing unrest situation likening it to distributing mosquito nets to prevent bites without taking action to eradicate mosquitoes spreading malaria, and suggestive of a superficial act rather than comprehensive solution.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club Thangjing Hall here on Sunday, Sanahanbi opined that as Kuki terrorists resort to relentless attacks on people of Manipur violating international laws, the masses are confused as well as anxious about involvement of foreign hands including USA and China in the conflict.

It is unfortunate that the government is not initiating effective action against Kuki terrorists in-spite of being fully aware of use of drones to shell Meetei settlements and rockets killing innocent civilians, she denounced, while adding that the announcement of using drone jammer to prevent drone attacks instead of taking up actions against Kuki terrorist is like appeasing a child with snacks.

She further urged the people, civil society organisations and political parties to join hands and take a united stand in such critical times for saving Manipur.
