Certificate course for FPOs/FPCs begins

A 60-day certificate course for prospective managers and CEOs of FPOs/FPCs jointly organised by Directorate of Extension Education of Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, ICAR Atari Zone-6 Guwahati (Assam), Pragyotishpur University (Guwahati) and NABARD Manipur Regional Office, Imphal commenced from Wednesday at the CAU conference hall.
The inaugural programme was attended by NABARD Manipur officer-in-charge Partha Mandal, CAU director of instruction Indira Sarangthem, research director Dr LM Garnayak, College of Food Technology dean professor Ng Iboyaima, Extension Education director professor Ph Ranjit Sharma, MOMA project director Donald Soibam and Agriculture Department retired joint director MS Khaidem, who is also SFAC Project Co-Ordinator, among others.
In his address, Partha Mandal said that NABARD has been working for the welfare of the farmers by initiating programmes to increase their income.
While stressing the need to establish multiple farmers' producer companies to help the food producers market their produces efficiently, Partha assured NABARP's support for the same.
Speaking on the occasion, professor Ranjit Sharma in formed that as part of the component of the certificate course, scientists, professors and experts from various CAU units in the northeast region along with experts from NABARD will deliver over 140 lectures.
Emphasising the need for FPOs and FPCs in the state to collaborate with Board of Director (BOD) to achieve the goals of self-reliant, the professor expressed hope that the course will help in enhancing skills of the participants.
