Meet opposes housing project at Langol

Concerned over the ever-diminishing religious sites and playgrounds in the state, Langol Environment Preservation and Conservation Committee (LEPCO) convened a public meet at Langol Game Village Zone II which adopted various resolutions.
The public meet held at UCYU on June 5 was attended by Kongba Maru Laifamlen president Ningthemjao Luwangcha as chief guest and UKAL president AK Ibomcha as president while Meitei Tribe Union secretary Nandalal Angomcha, DESAM secretary M Somorjit and Kick Boxing Association Imphal West secretary Salam Lemba Luwang were the guests of honour.
The public meet unanimously resolved to oppose alternative housing project being undertaken by PDA at the sacred place for Meitei community from where flame for the National Games was taken in 1999.The meet also resolved to conduct ritual ceremony at the sacred place for Ima Samoinu on June 14.The public meet further resolved that the Ima Samoinu complex being fenced for alternative housing complex must be opened before June 14 or else intense forms of agitation will be launched in coordination with the people and PDA must be held responsible for any eventualities.
