Ukhrul, December 07 2024:
The Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) held an emergency Longshim (assembly) on Saturday, and decided to leave the posts of president and assistant general secretary unfilled for the remainder of the current term.
According to the TMNL, the decision was taken to honour the memory of their late president, Themmaso Tallanao, and assistant general secretary, Masothing Mungshon, who tragically lost their lives while advocating against border fencing and the repeal of the FMR by the Government of India.
During the assembly, it was agreed that vice-president Ringphapam Kasar would step in as president in-charge, while the two positions will remain vacant until the end of the current term in 2026 .
