Thoubal, November 07 2024:
In the wake of the recent prohibitory order against paddy threshing and spilling of excavated earth from paddy fields by tractors on the roadways, the police on Thursday restricted activities that hindered public movement.
According to reports, the police were alerted on stacking of harvested paddy along the banks of the Arong River on Thursday morning, which was blocking the road leading to Thoubal Athokpam.
The police halted the activity and relocated the paddy to another spot.
The stacking of harvested paddy on the road and tractors spilling excavated earth, which muddies the roads, pose significant risks to both motorists and pedestrians.
As a result, the district administration issued a prohibitory order to ensure public safety.
Meanwhile, MSPDCL staff also cleared the chaff from electric posts during paddy harvesting with machines at Tentha on Thursday.
Authorities have appealed to all concerned to properly dispose of the leftover chaff after paddy harvesting to prevent unwanted incidents
caused by negligence.
