The Muallum unit of Janata Dal (United) organised a public meeting at its Singhat office on Friday.
Apart from ex-minister and JD-U Manipur president Hangkhanpau Taithul, leaders of the party, JD-U Ccpur and Singhat mandal also attended the meeting marked by presentation of cultural items by Muallum villagers.
In his address, Hangkhanpau Taithul, who is also JD-U intending candidate in Singhat AC, said that the upcoming election is crucial for the tribals as all issues related to the hills are pending and it will be decided by the outcome of the election.
He revealed that JD-U will field its own candidates in many assembly constituencies for the Assembly election and at least seven of them would emerge victorious.
The state president further said that disunity among the Zou community (a constituent of Zomi) was largely due to incompetency of UZO leadership which was against the spirit of unity.
