Workshop on water management held

The Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Department of Biotechnology under the Ministry of Science and Technology organised a workshop on "Water quality management through Testing, Surveillance and Technological Intervention for Socio-Economic Development of Manipur" in collaboration with Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) at IBSD office on Wednesday.
The programme was inaugurated by Rajya Sabha MP and titular king of Manipur Leisemba Sanajaoba.
A lecture by IBSD scientist Dr S Indira Devi enlightened on different aspects of water quality management and surveillance whereas Municipal and Household Water Quality consultant of Kolkata Indraneel Das gave his presentation on how to address water testing and surveillance for quality management and socio-economic development in this state.
Meanwhile, PHED chief chemist Salam Devakanta Singh highlighted the present scenario of water quality management in the state.
IBSD and PHED initiated collaborative efforts on Household water quality management in the state through scientific interventions.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the two organisations for providing safe water, better health and well-being of the state's population.
