Bishnupur, September 04 2024:
Demanding the dismissal of the present government in the state for its alleged inaction despite many Meeties killed and houses destroyed by Kuki narco-terrorists since the crisis broke out on May 3 last year, a sit-in demonstration was held at Nambol Keithel on Wednesday.
The sit-in was organised by United Protection Committee, formed by villagers of five assembly constituencies namely Nambol, Oinam, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, Wangoi and Konthoujam, along with Nambol Women's Wing.
Speaking to reporters at the protest site, Nambol Women's Wing convenor L Premila Devi compared drone bombs and attacks on Meetei people in Koutruk area by Kuki narco-terrorists to use of missiles in international warfare.
She also criticised the central forces for their partisan stand amid the crisis unfolding in the state, attributing it to lack of orders from the government.
As the government cannot ensure the welfare and safety of the people, it should resign en-masse and let the situation be handled by the public, she maintained.
United Protection Committee convenor Th Lamjingba also criticised the incumbent government for acting at the whims and mercy of New Delhi.
Noting that the national media initially projected the Meeteis as the guilty party in the formative stage of the crisis, he expressed that lies and brutalities of the Kukis are gradually being laid bare before all concerned.
Lamjingba also contended that the government's inaction, in-spite of fully aware about Kukis waging war against Manipur and the Meeteis, validates the demand for its abolition.
