Imphal, August 04 2021: Komrem Mother Association (KMA) and Komrem Development Organisation (KDO) strongly condemned the incident that occurred at Ichum Keirap Kom village under Keithelmanbi PS in Kang pokpi district on July 17, 2021 wherein a group of miscreants thrashed a host of women attending a prayer programme.

In a press release, KMA chairperson S Akim Kom expressed dismay over alleged lack of initiative by the Keithelmanbi PS to take appropriate action against the perpetrators in spite of filing an FIR.

Such indifferent attitude of the police gives the impression that the law enforcers are protecting the culprits, she said and appealed to the CM and the DGP to look into the incident so that dignity and safety of women could be ensured in line with PM Modi's flagship programme Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.

It also cautioned that if no tangible action is taken up, the association will not hesitate in launch intense forms of democratic agitations in association with women CSOs of the state.
