Imphal, December 30 2021:
Thangmeiband MLA Khumukcham Joykisan has expressed concern over misuse of club properties by some individuals and called upon the youth to keep such individuals away from club activities.
Inaugurating the first floor of Naharol Leishemba Club building located at Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai here on Thursday, Joykisan said that club plays major role in grooming youth and promoting players.
Club members should have the spirit of dedicating themselves to the welfare of the society and selfish people have no place in clubs, he said.
The MLA recalled how he played major role in the construction of North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA) building and how the club got into I-league second division stage when he was the president of NISA.
He resigned from the post after he joined politics and became a patron member.
Recently, a Meetei woman married to a Punjabi man in Thangal Keithel area raised a complaint against NISA stating that the club president had taken Rs 4 lakh with assurance of providing a shop plot above the club building, the MLA revealed.
Expressing concern over such unethical activities, he urged Thangmeiband United Club to look into the matter and take up necessary steps.
Regarding the first floor of Naharol Leishemba Club, the MLA'said that he made an assurance to construct the first floor of the club building right after winning the last election and he is keeping his promise.
Joykisan also said that he will complete blacktopping of roads in the constituency before the election though contractors are facing inconveniences as the works department is delaying in passing expenditure sanction.
Veterinary and animal husbandry director Dr Ch Nandakishwar, who also participated in the function, spoke on schemes taken up by the department for livestock and poultry farmers.
He also informed about the department s mobile veterinary vans equipped with doctors, support staff, equipment and vaccination facilities, which will be launched shortly.
Club president Pratap Leishangthem said that he has been refraining from political activities ever since he held the post.
Unfortunately, clubs are being politicised in the state lately and the public should remove politicians from club membership in order to keep their clubs clean.
Having a politician as the president of NISA will only impact the growth of the association, he said and appealed to the people of the locality not to accept cash for vote from candidates in the 2022 election but to exercise their voting rights wisely to choose the right candidate.
