Cleanliness drive, blood donation mark Irawat Day events

Under the aegis of All Nachou United Clubs' Organisation, NESDYA Club, Nachou observed the 128th Lamyanba Hijam Irawat birth anniversary at Nachou Ibudhou Sorarel Chaodriba community hall in Bishnupur district on Sunday with CPI Manipur former secretary L Sotinkumar, NESDYA Club president RK Bimal, UNLF former chairman RK Meghen, social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram and senior journalist Yambem Laba as presidium members.
The function was marked by paying of floral tributes to the bust of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat and to martyrs of the ongoing crisis.
In their addresses, RK Meghen stressed the need for following in the footsteps of the 'Lamyanba' to achieve the cherished goal as well as face the conflict with utmost unity as Yambem Laba called upon the masses to remember and learn from the sacrifices made by Hijam Irawat for the people.
In Thoubal district, Social And Cultural Development Centre (SOCDEC), Wangjing and internally displaced persons staying at the Wangjing-Kodompokpi Sports Complex relief camp jointly organised cleanliness drive on Sunday ahead of the 128th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot to be held at the sports complex on Monday.
During the drive, the sports complex and Wangjing Keithel Macha were sanitised.
Similarly, commemoration of the 129th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot was marked by volunteers of Republican Party of India (Athawale) Youth Manipur carrying out a cleanliness drive at Kangla and donating 45 units of blood at RIMS Blood Bank on Sunday.
Speaking to media persons, RPI (A) Youth Manipur president Heisnam Meiraba informed that the cleanliness drive and blood donation were held under the ideals of Irabot for unity, equality and communal harmony.
Condemning the attempt by Kuki narco-terrorists to destroy Manipur's integrity, he urged the government to resolve the ongoing conflict at the earliest to prevent experiencing second 'Chahi Taret Khuntakpa' .
Meiraba further appealed to the government for immediate rescue of the two persons who were abducted while going for SSC recruitment.
