Travelogue 'Banga Bandhugee Leibakta' released

Imphal, August 27 2022: Dr Thokchom Ibohanbi's travelogue 'Banga Bandhugee Leibakta' was released during a function held at Keishampat Thiyam Leirak Machin office of Poknapham daily here on Saturday.

The book release function was attended by Poknapham editor Aribam Robindro Sharma, award winner writer Yumlembam Ibomcha and poet Rajkumar Bhubonsana as presidium members.

The second edition of the book in Meetei Mayek was released with an aim to ensure easy access by the students as it is included in the BA Manipuri core text book of Manipur University and in MA Manipuri for Manipur University of Culture.

Born on April 5, 1961 at Singjamei Chongtham Leikai, Dr Ibohanbi worked as an associate professor and head of department of Manipuri department in DM College of Arts before retirement from service.

He was also a member of Sahitya Akademi Manipuri advisory for a term and a member of Board of Secondary Education Manipur and Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur among others.

Some of the notable published works of Dr Ibohanbi are 'Manipuri Sahityada Imagery', 'Banga Bandhugee Leibakta', 'Sagol Gari Thouba Gulamdin Amadi Atei Wari Khara' and 'Manipurida Punshi Warigi Sahitya' .

His 'Banga Bandhugee Leibakta' bagged Seram Mukta Sahitya Mana in 2005 and Manipur State Kala Akademi award in 2007 .

He also re ceived Sahitya Akademi award in 2021 for his book 'Manipurida Punshi Warigi Sahitya' .
