Imphal, September 26 2023:
National People's Party (NPP) general secretary (organisation) RK Rameshwar has questioned the pride of the country when it fails to protect the fives of two students despite boasting of having one of the strongest armies and intelligence networks.
Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, Rameshwar said that photos of the last moments of the two students went viral confirming their tragic end after remaining traceless since July 6."Where and what was the central security forces and its intelligence network doing for the last two and half months," he enquired, while wondering whether the numerous intelligence agencies of the country such as RAW, IB and CIDs are functioning in the state or not.
Terming the cold blooded murder of the two students as inhumane and act of cowardice, he said that the government should not simply remain sitting even if the case has been transferred to CBI.
Instead, it should proactively pursue the case to bring those perpetrators to justice, he demanded.
Rameshwar further decried the police crackdown on unarmed students, who were simply marching towards the CM's bungalow to register their grievances.
Even after five months, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is remaining silent without taking up any measures to control the violence and restore peace.
He even refuses to meet ministers and MLAs of the state, which is very unfortunate and unbecoming of a PM, the general secretary maintained.
He also conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and shared their grief and pain.
