IIIT Manipur celebrates National Space Day

The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Manipur celebrated National Space Day on Friday.
The event focused on the potential of young minds to drive the future of space exploration.
Padma Bhushan awardee Prof Thirumalachari Ramasami, former director of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India attended the event as the chief guest.
He spoke on the importance of National Space Day, highlighting the Chandrayaan-3 mission and its sustainable technology.
IIIT Manipur director Prof Krishnan Baskar, in his presidential address, emphasised the vital role of space exploration and the contributions of educational institutions in fostering scientific curiosity among students.
The celebration included various activities, such as a National Space Day Exhibition for students from classes 8 to 12, a quiz competition, and a robotics challenge.
Around 100 students from several schools, including Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Assam Rifles Public School, New Keithelmanbi, DAV Public School Sangakpham, and Kendriya Vidyalaya Akampat, participated in the event.
During the exhibition, students had the opportunity to engage in lab demonstration sessions at IIIT Manipur.
Naorem Arjun Singh and Elex Chongtham from Johnstone Higher Secondary School won first place in the exhibition.
Saurabh Deb and Shilheibi Chanu from Assam Rifles Public School, IGAR South Mantripukhri, secured second place, while Sophia Lourembam and Ingudam'Velena from Kendriya Vidyalaya Akampat achieved third place.
The winners received cash prizes of Rs 5000, Rs 3000, and Rs 2000, respectively, along with certificates.
