Wangkhem candidates stress on education, job creation

Imphal, February 25 2022: The candidates in the fray for the seat of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency shared their reason and vision for contesting the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election to The People's Chronicle.

BJP candidate Yumnam Nabachandra Singh stated that he is contesting the polls to address the grievances of the people and his first task after getting elected would be to improve the education sector and support poor students.

Vision for the state will be to resolve all prevailing issues and provide jobs to the youth to help Manipur become self-independent, he said.

JD(U) candidate Kangabam Jadu alias Jadumani Singh said that the constituency requires a capable representative and his first action after getting elected would be to provide suitable jobs to the youth and improve the irrigation system in the constituency.

He also expressed desire to promote farmers, generate job opportunities for the youth and revive the economy of the state.

Meanwhile, independent candidate Md Abdul Halim stated that he wants to end the system of misusing and manipulating the sentiments of the public to become elected representatives.

If elected, he will donate his salary and pay serious attention to the agriculture, horticulture sectors and ensure delivery of government schemes to deserving beneficiaries, Md Abdul said, adding that his vision for the state is to resolve outstanding issues and focus on development.

NCP candidate Oinam Haridas Singh conveyed that he wants to address shortcomings in the constituency such as education, irrigation, health and drinking water.

Thus, his first assignment would be to take up developmental works and assist students from poor families.

For the state, he wants to strengthen harmony between the hill and the valley, so as to protect the integrity of the state.

RPI (A) nominee Dr Nimaichand Luwang shared that he wants to join the law-making process and bring about a clean and transparent administration.

His first action after getting elected would be to improve the road and transport condition of the constituency, provide safe drinking water and generate jobs for the youth.

He then said he wants to cultivate good quality citizens for the state, provide safe drinking water and improve the education system of the state.

On the other hand, INC candidate Keisham Meghachandra Singh said that he wants to address all development related shortcomings and his first assignment after getting elected would be to develop new infrastructures in Wangkhem in addition to prioritising setting up of industrial units in the constituency.

Regarding his vision for the state, Meghachandra said that he wants to develop the required infrastructures in different sectors and encourage skill development for the youth, thereby helping to improve the economy.

NPP candidate Kharibam Jiban Singh stated that he is contesting to lead the constituency away from the failure of its previous representatives in the educational, agriculture and other key sectors.

Thus, his first task after getting elected will be to prioritise the education sector and for the state, he wants to bring in companies/businesses from outside the state to generate jobs for the youth, by formulating a systematic policy to make Manipur a business hub.

Independent candidate Laishram Domen Singh did not respond when contacted by this daily.
