Imphal, September 20 2021:
Laishom Santosh alias Bony, son of late ex-minister Laishom Lalit of Keishamthong assembly constituency has dismissed as unfounded and malicious the rumour being spread against him and his family and clarified that he has no plan to shelf the idea of contesting the upcoming election.
Holding a press meet at his Keishamthong residence on Monday, Santosh said that some individuals spread the rumour taking advantage of the recent demise of his uncle ex-MLA Laishom Ibomcha and Covid situation in his family.
It is unfortunate that unscrupulous individuals spread misleading information that he would no longer fight the election and they have come to an agreement with his family.
In reality, there is no such plan for him or his family to give up the race.
On the other hand, it is thankful to MLA L Jayantakumar to publicly accept that there are around 6000 loyal voters of his late uncle, he said and added that all those loyal voters are still with his family.
Some are also stating that he is coming out with the election plan a little late but that is not true.
He has been working towards serving the people of his constituency for the last three decades while following the footsteps of his family elders and he announced his plan to contest the election in March this year.
He only remained silent for some time due to Covid-19 infection in his family in which they had also lost one of their elder members, Santosh said.
He further said that there is no good or bad political party and it is the members that make a party look bad or good.
As for his decision to join the BJP, Santosh said he sees it as a vision oriented party without the greed for contract works and corruption.
There are several widows in Keishamthong AC, who have lost their husbands due to HIV-AIDS and they are raising their children despite various hardships.
At the same time, there is not a single playground for children and youth of the constituency and there is nobody to look after these basic needs of the people, he rued.
His family elders worked on various issues related with his constituency as well as the state during their times and they never used their position to secure government jobs for any of the family members.
His family is still living in a mud house.
Though all the candidates come up with the objective to serve the public, the society will know who is who in a couple of months, he said while urging the people of his constituency to wisely use their voting rights.
