Saving Manipur not polls need of the hour: Jayananda

Imphal, April 20 2025: People should concentrate more on saving Manipur while understanding the prevailing situation of the state rather than thinking for election, stated National People's Party, Manipur general secretary (IT & frontal organisation) Laitonjam Jayananda.

Addressing a gathering at the closing ceremony of the 1st Khomidok Youth Trophy/organised by Khomidok Mayai Leikai at Khomidok Arapti Loukol Sunday Jayananda said people should keep aside election in view of the prevailing situation in the state and rather prioritise saving the indigenous communities and Manipur.

Jayananda, however, appealed to the people to support those capable of saving Manipur during election.

The closing ceremony was also attended by Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan as chief guest and Kairang Khomidok GP pradhan Md Yunus Ahmed, Kairang-Khomidok GP's intending candidate Chesabam Nurjaman and others as guests of honour.

In the final match, KMLFC defeated Jesan DC by 3-2 goal via the tie-breaker to lift the 1st Khomidok youth trophy, 5-a side football tournament.
