Imphal, December 19 2021:
Ex-MLA of Wangoi assembly constituency Salam Joy said that the fate of the state lies with the public and exercising their voting rights with the right mindset could help in bringing positive changes in the state.
Attending a one-day political conference for youth of Wangoi assembly constituency held at Samurou Community Hall on Sunday, Joy said that the public need to be conscious of their responsibilities, especially on the day of election in order to save Wangoi in particular and Manipur in general.
They need to reject cash for votes and elect the right candidate, who will bring true development through sincerity and commitment.
Youth are the pillars of the future and they should be the agents of change in the society, he said.
While noting that there are rumours about him not contesting the election due to alleged lack of public support, Joy asserted that he has a strong base of supporters of more than 6000 voters and nobody should pay attention to such misleading propaganda.
Others are newcomers and they have to work from the scratch in order to build their base.
As such, he does not have any doubt on his victory in the 2022 state assembly election, the former MLA added.
He also said that many of the workers of his rivals are putting their efforts only because they are on the verge of losing their money which they deposited with their candidates, for securing government jobs.
It would be wrong for the youth to follow such selfish workers and leaders, he added.
Wangoi Block Congress Committee leader Sandham Dhojo, MPCC member Wairokpam Shyam, Samurou Municipal Council nominated caretaker L Nonibala, former councillors H Hemabati, Hidangmayum Ibemcha, Md Abdul Wahid and Laishram Babu attended the political conference as the presidium members.
