Two Ladies Hostel mess inaugurated

Two newly constructed Hostel mess of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) at PG Ladies Hostel (Kundolei Hostel) & Ladies Hostel No 3 & 4 (Kusumlei Hostel) were inaugurated on Sunday by RIMS director Prof A Santa Singh.
A release bv RIMS media advisor N Phillip Singh quoted the director as saving at the event that the newly constructed mess will provide better services for medical, dental and nursing students.
A CCTV surveillance facility has also been installed for first time at the hostel for safety of the students, he said.
The director also informed that construction five storey buildings for girls and boys are also nearing completion while another two-storey building with capacity to accommodate 200 students will also be constructed by next year.
Prof Santa also announced that MDS course will soon be introduced at RIMS Dental College and urged BDS students to avail the facility of studying MDS courses in the institute.
He also stated from this year MSc Nursing In Paediatrics has been introduced.
Stating that RIMS thrives to give a student-friendly campus, he said a basketball court will be constructed at Kusumlei Hostel and Bish-nupur RHTC.
A new Gym for the students is also ready to be inaugurated soon in which a separate floor will be reserved as reading room, said the director and added that students will face no difficulty while coming to study at the reading room since the building is close to the hostels.
In his address, RIMS Hospital medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh, who also attended the inauguration event, encouraged the students to develop team spirit and work as a team.
"This is the best time to know each other coming from different states of India.
You can learn about each other by working together, talking to each other," he said and added that the warden of the hostel is working tirelessly for the welfare of students.Bike rally organised against drugabuse.
Social Welfare Association, Sangaiyumpham organised a bite rally against drug abuse carrying the message of 'No to Drugs, Yes to Life' in Sangaiyumpham area under Khangabok assembly constituency in Thoubal district on Sunday, Khangabok MLA Okram Surjakumar flagged off the Thoubal ZP adhyaksha Hasi-na Begum, SPJogeshchandra Haobijam, Sangaiyumpham ZP member Md Hibjur Rahman, Sangaiyumpham part (I) GP pradhan Md Zakir, part (ii) GP pradhan Md Wahidur Rahman and SWA president Md Ziaur Rahman participated in the rally.
While flagging off the rally, MLA Surjakumar thanked the Thoubal SP, other officers of police and civil departments, elccted members of local self-governments for their contribution in making the rally a success.
While speaking on the negative impact of drug abuse in the society and future generation, he called upon the people of his con stituency to support the state government's War on Drugs campaign.
According to SWA and MSDO Sangaiyumpham centra] committee chairman Md Zamir Khan, SWA organised the rally with the objective to create awareness on the adverse impact drug abuse is having among the people of the area, especial ly the youth.
The society is besieged with a disturbing trend where young school going students are beginning to abuse one or another kind of intoxicants, he said while calling for a mass movement to salvage the situation before it is too late.
After passing through different parts of Sangaiyumpham area, the rally culminated at the local di gah ground where a public meeting was also organised.
The meeting unanimously resolved to form a united body called 'Anti Drug Association:' to fight drug abuse and illegal trafficking.
The meeting also agreed to organise a mega public meeting by involving AN-JUMAN and UDC as well as their member clubs.
