RIMS holds MBBS graduation ceremony
Doctors next to God, should treat patients equally: Govindas

A graduation ceremony for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) passed out students of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) was organised by the Graduation Ceremony Celebration Committee of RIMS at its Jubilee Hall, here, on Thursday.
The ceremony was held with YAS minister Govindas Konthoujam as chief guest and RIMS Imphal director Prof A Santa Singh as president, while retired lieutenant general K Himalay, former additional DG health services Padmashree Dr Indira Chakraborty, former RIMS director Prof L Fimate, RIMS Hospital medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh, dean (Academic) Prof Brogen Singh Akoijam and sub-dean (Examination) Prof Th Meera Devi were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Govindas noted that RIMS has improved a lot and has undergone lots of changes towards development.
He also congratulated all the MBBS pass outs and thanked Prof Santa for inviting him to the ceremony.
Stating that "Doctors are next to God", Govindas also advised all the doctors to serve by possessing good attitude, humanity and most importantly to treat all patients equally without any partiality and practise of VIP culture.
In his address, Prof A Santa said that the journey for passed out doctors is just beginning from today onwards.
He also advised that medicine is not that simple, it's not complete science, sometimes its arts.
Since each and every individual is different, doctors need different methods and medicines for treatment of patients.
The director also highlighted the importance of having more experience and said that doctors should keep learning to have more experiences.
Prof Brogen Singh Akoijam informed that number of students who passed MBBS Exam is 84, number of students who passed Broad & Super Speciality PG Examination is 121, and the number of students who passed MCh and DM is five.
As a part of the ceremony, 53 meritorious students were awarded by the dignitaries, who also released the annual report on academic activities.
