MEA additional secretary visits Moreh ICP

Moreh, January 15 2022:
Ministry of External Affairs' additional secretary Vinay Kumar visited the Integrated Check Post (ICP), Moreh on Friday and held a meeting to discuss issues regarding trade between India and Myanmar.
The meeting was attended by SP LCS Moreh SK Gangte, ICP manager Robin Gangte, SDC Moreh L Brojendro Singh, 43 AR CO Col Sumit Sood and staff of ICP/LPAI and immigration officials.
Various issues which favour informal trade in the region and possible ways and measures to promote formal trades through ICP were discussed in the meeting.
Existence of long porous border, absence of proper trade agreements on imports from third countries through Myanmar and non-availability of VISA facility at Moreh were highlighted in the meeting among several other issues.
In November, 2021 Senior Diplomat Vinay Kumar (IFS 1992) was appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
He will replace Saurabh Kumar (IFS 1989), who has been shifted to Ministry of External Affairs as Secretary (East).
Presently, Kumar is serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
