Many mourn demise of MAPI Council president Bimol

Many organisations expressed deep condolences over the untimely demise of Manipur Peace and Integrity (MAPI) Council president Nongthombam Bimol Meitei, who succumbed to Covid-19 complications at JNIMS ICU ward on Friday.
The last rites of N Bimol (63) were performed on Saturday at his birth place in Khurai Chingambam Leikai.
Representatives of several organisations including UCM, UPF, NIPCO, MAPI Council, AMSU, CADA, UPACO, AMKIL, Nupi Samaj, Tammi Chingmee, EECHAL, NIMPAL, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup, Thoubal Ima, ANUL, Madia Leima, AMPFA, PPCM, AMUCO, CCSK, KIL, MSF, CHITUWA, Covid Task Force and Haomee Research Guilds were among others present on the occasion.
A two-minute silence was also observed by the congregation as a mark of respect to the departed soul and paid fitting tributes to the photo of the deceased.
In a release, MAPI Council' secretary general M Neta Moirangcha informed that during this lifetime, Bimol had held several other posts of the Council including its president and also took prime responsibility in the formation of UCM.
He was at the forefront of several critical public movements and issues of the state including AFSPA, ILP and Indo-Naga peace talk among others.
He took keen roles in extending help to people residing in neglected border areas and also brought good relation with the blood brothers in Mandalay by personally meeting them.
Moreover, he had been working as Covid frontline warrior for the people of Manipur, Neta said.
Such a man who dedicated his life for the people of the state was.
arrested by the government on June 25 and jailed where he contracted the virus.
Despite several efforts of the doctors in JNIMS, he succumbed to Covid complications, Neta lamented, while adding that MAPI Council deeply mourns his demise and prays for his soul to rest in peace.
Coalition against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) and People's Task Force for Covid-19 also mourned the demise of N Bimol and shared the pain and grief of the bereaved family.
