Bishnupur, November 13 2024:
In yet another attack, Kuki militants on Wednesday fired shots at farmers harvesting paddy in the fields under Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou around 2 pm.
According to some survivor villagers, units of SSB, BSF and Sikh Regiment are stationed at the foothills nearby Lai Manai, with the eastern side manned by IRB.
The locals opined that the central forces should be well aware direction or location from where the shots were fired.
While expressing strong resentment that the central forces did not fired a single shot in retaliation, they said had the central forces performed duty as mandated, there is no reason for the farmers and public of the area to feel insecure.
The villagers also lamented that due lack of sincerity and diligence on the part of the security forces deployed at the foothills, harvesting the ripe paddy crops may not be possible.
Meanwhile, moments after firing by the Kuki militants on farmers, large number of womenfolk blocked vehicles of central forces at Ningthoukhong Bazar but allowed them to proceed only after Bishnupur SP Ksh Ravikumar intervened.
It may be recalled that Kuki militants had shot and killed four persons including Ningthoukhong Kha Maning Water Supply caretaker and his son, as well as two farmers after descending from the hill range nearby Lai Manai.
