Artiste among two abducted for ransom

Founder-lead guitarist of the Zomi Fins musical band and chief of MT Geltam village identified as Kammuanpau, h/o Ngaiching, and another person identified as Goukhanthang s/o Kamzalian of Khajang were abducted on Saturday night by unidentified persons suspected to be members of non-SoO UG groups.
In a telephonic conversation, Singngat police OC Tellen Kom told this correspondent that the police are working day and night to locate the whereabouts of the hostages and ensure their safe release.
Meanwhile, the Zomi Chiefs' Associations (ZCA) strongly condemned the incident and expressed its inability to accept the threat to the family members if the matter was reported to the police.
The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore.
Meanwhile, the Bolero vehicle (MN 02B 1120) used to kidnapped Kammuanpau and Goukhanthang, a mason, was found abandoned in a forest near Kolhen village under Henglep Sub-Division on Monday morning by the police.
The Vehicle, which belongs to Geltam village chief, Kammuanpau, and was used to abduct the chief and Goukhanthang.
According to the Singngat police, a team of police was trying to bring back the Bolero vehicle but the engine failed to start.
An Activa scooter used by the miscreants was also found at MT Gelt am village.
The sources also informed that the police have not made much headway despite conducting raids in various, suspected areas.
Meanwhile, ZCA president T Pumzadou appealed to the abductors to release the duo oh humanitarian ground.
