Imphal, May 13 2022:
The office of Land Customs Station, Moreh, which used to manually process documents, will go paperless by adopting the Indian Customs Electronic Data Interchange System (ICES) on trial basis from May 18, according to a statement issued by Customs (Preventive) NER Shillong commissioner Gaipuizei Machunlung Kamei.
ICES is a fully automated, quick and paperless system to clear import/export consignments.
It allows exporters/importers to upload relevant documents and make declaration of their export/import goods online from the comfort of their homes.
Permission and NOC from the regulatory agencies, if required, could be obtained online through Single Window Interface for Facilitating Trade (SWIFT), which is integrated into ICES and can be accessed through www.icegate.gov.in.
ICES not only reduces time in passing through regulation for export/import but is also a cost effective automated system, the statement said.
