Senapati, November 10 2024:
In commemoration of its 10th Foundation Day, the Foundation for Maraoni Orphans & Destitute Upliftment (FMODU), based in Viewland Colony, Makhrelui, held a Decadal Foundation Day celebration on Saturday.
The event was attended by Col Sandeep Sharma, commandant 16 Assam Rifles, Maram, as chief guest, and Rev Dr Joseph Kennedy, pastor Poumai Baptist Church, Senapati, as administrator.
FMODU is dedicated to supporting orphans and the destitute, providing assistance to those in society most in need.
The foundation's president AS Graceson Marao, shared a deeply personal motivation for his work: after losing his mother at birth and his father in the 1987 "Operation Bluebird" carried out by the Indian Army.
He was raised by a neighbour, Koduru Sosii of Khongdei Khuman, who was honoured during the celebration.
Marao expressed his gratitude to all supporters of FMODU, crediting their assistance as vital to the foundation's growth and sustainability.
Reflecting on his own vision, which began as early as Class VII, he expressed his dedication to serving orphans and the destitute.
In his address, Col Sharma commended Marao for his selfless service, emphasising the importance of such dedication in service to the community and "the children of God".
The commandant encouraged FMODU to continue its mission of uplifting and inspiring lives.
Addressing the children, Col Sharma reminded them that they are deeply loved by God and encouraged them to pursue their education, nurture their talents, and take pride in themselves, advising them to look beyond any perceived disadvantages and aspire to achieve great things.
