IBSD celebrates Himalaya Diwas

Under the auspices of Union Ministry of Science and Technology Department, Imphal-based Biotechnology Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) on Monday organised a seminar on the theme 'Importance of Himalaya and the need for its conservation' to celebrate the Himalaya Diwas.
As per a release, during the programme, IBSD director professor Pulok K Mukherjee highlighted various initiatives taken up by the institute for connecting Eastern and Western Himalaya for development of bioeconomy from bioresources.
He also talked on the importance of Himalaya Diwas and mentioned about various ac-tivities of the institute for the conservation and sustainable utilisation of bioresources of Eastern Himalaya.
The release further informed that Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organisation (HESCO), Uttarakhand founder professor Anil Joshi; CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT), Palampur, Himachal Pradesh director Dr Sudesh Kumar Yadav; Indo-German Programme chief technical advisor Dr Rajan Kumar Kotru; and environment and climate change director Dr T Brajakumar Singh spoke as resource persons of the seminar, which was also attended by many scientists and research scholars of IBSD, Imphal.
