Cultural confluence of Manipuri, Tamil held

Art & Culture Department, Government of Manipur organised the second chapter of Cultural Confluence of Tamil and Manipuri at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore in Chennai on June 4 with special focus on celebration of Tmashi' Maharaj Kumari Binodini Devi.
In a statement, Art & Culture director L Kishworjit Singh informed that the event was attended by Manipur Governor La Ganesan as chief guest along with Raj Bhavan Imphal principal private secretary Y Ibomcha Singh, Indian author and activist Sivasankari, eminent writer and journalist Maalan Narayan, Parveen Sultana and Chandra Gopalan as presidium members.
The programme was marked by presentation of cultural programmes, mainly songs of both Tamil and Manipuri and concluded with national anthem, it said.
According to the director, the programme was conceived and envisaged by Governor Ganesan to exchange cultural values, tradition, history, art of different Indian communities and disseminate the rich cultural heritage of Manipur to other parts of the country.
The event was attended by around 400 people including Tamils and Manipuris.
