Imphal, September 08 2021:
Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) has demanded immediate removal of incumbent principal of College of Nursing at Lamphelpat and appointment of a new principal fulfilling requisite criteria.
According to a statement of AIMS, College of Nursing is a professional college under the government of Manipur but the incumbent principal N Nalinibala Devi does not fulfil the criteria set for holding the post.
As per Indian Nursing Council guidelines, 15 years teaching experience is a must for holding the post of principal, but it was quite astonishing as to how a person who completely lacks knowledge of state and national guideline was made principal of the professional college.
According to Manipur Gazette No 112 issued on August 5, 2014, N Nalinibala Devi was at serial No 6 in the senioritv list with the same serial number also cited in the notification issued by the health services director on September 3, 2020 .
In fact, there are many teachers who have more teaching experience and are senior to Nalinibala, AIMS said, adding that rule cannot be purchased either by money or by closeness to powerful people.
Asking authority concerned to remove N Nalinibala from the post immediately, AIMS also demanded appointment of a new principal fulfilling requisite criteria while maintaining that it will fully support government's sincere and right decision.
The issue might blow out of proportion if government fails to act timely, AIMS said, adding that N Nalinibala herself and government should be responsible for any untoward incident that occurs in case students launch agitation against wrongful appointment to the post of principal.
